Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Oregon School Resource Officers Association?

A: The Oregon School Resource Officers Association (OSROA) began in 2003 as an organization dedicated to the safety and education of students, faculty, staff and guests of schools and school districts in Oregon.

OSROA is a member-supported, professional 501 (c)(3) organization.  All donations, purchases and conference fees are tax deductible.

Q: How can I become a member of OSROA?

A: Membership is attained by submitting an application for membership, along with a check or money order for annual dues, or by attending an OSROA annual conference.  Conference attendees receive a complimentary membership for the calendar year of the conference.  Membership applications are available upon request by contacting us by phone, e-mail or by clicking the Application link to the left of the page.

Q: What services can OSROA provide to my school or school district?

A: OSROA is comprised of law enforcement officers and educators who work specifically within the school community to provide a safer, healthier environment for students and staff to learn and work.  OSROA's extensive network allows us to put you in contact with one of our members in your local area that can assist you with security site surveys, training programs, educational opportunities for staff and students or other needs specific to your school and/or community.

In addition, you can also attend our Annual Conference, where there will be classes designed to help keep our children and schools as safe as possible.  To register for the Annual Conference, please click the Conference link to the left.  On our Conference page, you can also download the 2010 OSROA Conference brochure.

Q: How can I contact my local School Resource Officer (SRO)?

A: By visiting our Message Board Forum, you can have instant access to your local SROs.  The message board is divided into five regions, with each region covering a number of counties in the state of Oregon.  Just click on the region that you live in (counties are listed below the region title), post a message and an SRO in your area will contact you as soon as possible.  There is also a "live chat" feature at the bottom of the main page that will allow you to contact any SRO who happens to be online at the time.

Q: How can I contact my local school officials through OSROA?

A: Our message board, mentioned above, has a School District forum which allows you to post a message for school officials in any school district in Oregon.  If you would like to have a school official contact you, or you would like to discuss school related issues with schools officials from any school district, simply post a message in the School District forum.
